2009 Rosalind Kornfeld Award of the Society for Glycobiology (USA) for Lifetime Achievements in Glycobiology[link]
An award was presented to Roland Schauer by Prof. Dr. Mark von Itzstein, Griffith University, Centre for Biomolecular Science and Drug Discovery, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on behalf of the Scientific Program Commitee and the delegates of the third Pan-Pacific Conference on "Sialoglycosciences and Other Novel Forms of Glycosylation" for outstanding contributions to the field of sialoglycoscience and in recognition of his lifetime achievements (July 16, 2002).
A very informative and important BBA special issue on developmental glycobiology (Biochimica et Biophysica Acta 1573 (2002)) was compiled by Harry Schachter (Toronto) and Scott B. Selleck (SE Minneapolis) and dedicated to Johannes F.G. Vliegenthart, Utrecht, and Roland Schauer, Kiel, on the occasion of their 65th birthdays.
Sørge Kelm (Bremen) and Anthony Corfield (Bristol) summarize Roland Schauer's achievements Editorial of Biochimica et Biophysica Acta 1573 (2002), pp 207-208.
Prof. Schauer was elected correspondent member to "Real Academia Nactional de Farmacia, Madrid" in 2004
Prof. Dr. Mark von Itzstein
Director of the Centre for Biomolecular Science and Drug Discovery at Griffith University Gold Coast Campus, Queensland, Australia
in Cooperation with Prof. Dr. Joachim Thiem, University of Hamburg
