Cross cutting issues

The proposed items of discussion will be centered around the 4 working group themes listed above. The actual list has been worked out on the base of several feedbacks after the first “info-mail” from June 2009, which has introduced the basic workshop concept and asked for additional ideas. All papers and poster presentations should be assigned to these themes, providing new ideas, solutions, new case study results or new conceptual strategies. All topics should also consider problems and solutions related to

• Scaling, space, dynamics, transdisciplinarity
• Communication and outreach
• Suggestions for the enhanced implementation of the ecosystem service approach
• Development of research questions from practical demands

The discussions should lead to the formulation of a “Salzau Message for Decision Makers”, trying to better implement the concept of ecosystem goods and services in decision making processes. This message will be elaborated during the workshop.
