Corona-Update: Innovations in the Corona regulations from 18.3.22 - Abolition of 3G controls
Dear students and staff at Kiel University,
With this e-mail we would like to provide information about short notice changes to the COVID regulations. The state of Schleswig-Holstein has decided to lift a series of existing restrictions as from 19 March 2022. The state sees the opportunity to gradually return to normal university life in particular as a result of a very high vaccination rate. This will result in the following changes, as from 19 March 2022, for
Examinations (second examination period for the winter semester 2021/22): 21.3 to 9.4.2022)
- No 3G checks at attendance examinations
- Continued mandatory masks (FFP2 or surgical masks)
- The type and form of examination (digital or attendance, written or oral) envisaged for the second examination period has already been announced, so changing this so soon before the exam is not possible.
Face-to-face lectures:
- No 3G checks
- Continued mandatory masks (FFP2 or surgical masks)
- Recommended adherence to minimum 1.5m social distancing
You also do not need to prove your 3G status in libraries, museums or the sports forum any more. Masks are still mandatory in libraries and museums (surgical or FFP2 masks). This means that there is no need to prove 3G status in all university areas. It also covers proof of 3G status for staff at the workplace (see the circular e-mail dated 15 March 2022).
For all other university areas which have not been named above, the currently valid COVID-related restrictions and hygiene requirements (AHA+L) will remain in place for the time being, as stated in the circular e-mail on 15 March 2022. We will let you know if there are any changes during the course of next week.
The state regulations regarding special measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus at universities which entered into force today will apply up to and including 2 April 2022. We currently do not know which regulations for the summer semester 2022 will apply as from 3 April. We will provide information about this as quickly as we can.
With kind regards,
Claudia Ricarda Meyer, Chancellor
