General Welcome Ceremony on Monday, 16 October 2023

Dear Freshers,

we cordially invite you to the Central Welcome Ceremony of Kiel University. Representatives of the university, city and state will welcome you to your new alma mater. This year's event will take place on Monday, 16 October in the Audimax. The welcome ceremony is a hybrid event and is going to take place in presence as well as digitally.

In the morning you will meet:

  • the Faculty of Medicine
  • the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
  • the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences
  • the Faculty of Engineering

In the afternoon you will meet:

  • the Faculty of Theology
  • the Faculty of Law
  • the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences
  • the Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Both progammes are going to be translated simultaneously into English on site. Headphones will be provided.

The information fair is a great opportunity to get in touch with the many university facilities, student groups and important partners working with Kiel University. It is located in a big tent in front of the Audimax and inside the building in the foyer.

We wish you a good start to the winter semester 2023/24!

Information fair

Important university institutions - such as the International Center, the Students' Union Executive Committee (AStA) or the University Sports Centre – are going to present themselves at the information fair from 9.00 to 16.00 in the foyer of the Audimax and in the exhibition tent in front of the Audimax.

You can also get to know student groups in which you can get involved in (university) politics and social issues or pursue a common hobby. Welcome money of the State Capital Kiel

Also new Students from abroad receive under certain conditions a welcome money in the amount of 100 euros.

Students arriving from abroad must register in person at the Town Hall. Appointments can be booked for 04.10, 11.10, 18.10 and 25.10.2023.

Appointments can be made online on the website of the city of Kiel. Students select the service "Studiale" in the second registration step.

Please note:

The City of Kiel requires a student ID card and confirmation of accommodation in order to register at the City Hall. If you also want to apply for the welcome money, we need proof of the start of your studies and, if applicable, a current certificate of enrolment.
