The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science is involved in all four Excellence Clusters at Kiel University. In the Cluster 'Marine Science' and 'Life Science' the faculty has been a major contributor to the success of both Clusters. The Cluster 'Marine and Geo-Science' is firmly anchored in the faculty; scientists of physics and chemistry are involved in the research focus Nano Science and Surface Research. Furthermore, Furthermore, the research focus 'Social, Environmental and Cultural Change' has been positively shaped by the committed efforts of members of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science within the Graduate School 'Human Development in Landscapes'.
