The Faculty of Medicine has various projects underway in all four Excellence Clusters at Kiel University. Thereby, it focuses on clinical areas such as inflammation, oncology and neuroscience, while consistent integrating translational science. The facultys only overarching inter-disciplinary research focus is Age-related Emergence of Diseases. Understanding the aging process and its resultant diseases is the goal of this scientific research. Methodical platforms can be allocated to the various stages of translation, which are 'Medical Systematical Biology', 'Molecular and Systematic Pathology', and 'Therapy and Prevention'. The clinical profile research areas address these levels vertically.
