Research Foci

These four excellent initiatives form the hub of a close inter-disciplinary collaboration across all faculties at Kiel University:

The four research foci at Kiel address core themes through strong inter-disciplinary research spanning the entire University.

Kiel Marine Science

Kiel Marine Science
Research and teaching in the field of Marine Science are based on a close partnership between scientist working with GEOMAR, the Institute of Geosciences at Kiel University and the Research and Technology Center (FTZ) located in Büsum. Seven of our eight faculties are part of this cluster.

Kiel Nano Science

Kiel Nano Science
This cluster is exploring new, intelligent materials and complex systems to constantly monitor and treat critical diseases. To excel in this new field of excellence, an intensive inter-departmental collaboration of various medical areas, physics, chemistry, bionic, electronical engineering, computer science and material science is necessary.

Societal, Environmental and Cultural Change

Societal, Environmental and Cultural Change
