The Computational Sciences Center serves as a platform for the three faculties of Mathematics and Natural Science, Economics and Social Science, and Engineering. It is active in national research associations such as the DFG-priority programs SPP 1253 and 1307. Furthermore, the inter-disciplinary Computational Sciences Center forms an indispensable part of the cluster of excellence Future Ocean by numerical modelling of marine systems. The Center participates in various research areas as well as other Excellence Clusters, either directly through simulation, or through the application of results from such simulations to empirical observational research projects.
