Working Group Coastal Ecology / Environmental Research / Environmental Technology

The working group Coastal Ecology/Environmental Research/Environmental Technology focuses on the turnover of matter, ecological structures and functions in the transition zone between land and sea. Another focus is on the conception of system solutions and prevention strategies in the field of marine pollution, also with respect to call for action in threshold countries. Current research activities are in marine eutrophication, transformation processes in the water column, bentho-pelagic coupling and mechanisms of algal bloom formation. Results form a basis for the development of cutting-edge technologies in monitoring the marine environment.
