Study of biology at Kiel University finished with diploma (Dipl.-Biol. (EQV M.Sc.)).
Major: Fisheries biology; Minors: zoology and molecular plant breeding.
Diploma thesis: "Parametrisierung eines Respirationssystems zur Erfassung von Stoffwechselsituationen bei Fischen" at the Gesellschaft für Marine Aquakultur mbH (GMA-Büsum) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Carsten Schulz and FTZ-Westcoast (Dr. Klaus Vanselow).
