Lecture: OLEDs in Functional Devices: More than just a Display Technology
Many people already know organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) from their smartphones or by now also from larger TV displays. Due to their nature as a plane emitter, many other applications are possible, e.g., light-emitting wallpaper or highly integrated optical sensors.
Here biosensors and photoswitchable “smart” surfaces will be presented, which are brought to function by OLEDs and have been fabricated in the group for Integrated Systems and Photonics at Kiel University.
Other topics are the tailoring of light outcoupling and emission direction by nanostructures, as well as roll-to-roll fabrication.
