Mission Statement
Upon being appointed to the Chair of Medical Informatics and Statistics and taking over leadership of the institute (IMIS) in April 2002, Professor Dr.
Michael Krawczak updated the institutes mission. The current areas of focus are biometry, medical statistics and epidemiology, in particular genetic epidemiology and population genetics.
The long term
responsibilities of IMIS as a scientific institute encompass teaching and consulting in all aspects of the application and development of biometrical and epidemiological methods.
IMIS is specifically involved in the following areas, among others:
- Course offerings in the field of medical data management, genetic epidemiology, population genetics and bioinformatics.
- Support of clinical research through biometric consulting.
- Mentoring of dissertation, habilitation and study programs within the medical faculty.
