SFB 677 goes into the next round

In May 2015 the German Research Foundation (DFG) has granted the third funding period of the collaborative research center 677 (SFB 677) "Function by Switching". The SFB 677 is a research network of chemists, physics, material scientists and medical scientists in Kiel and exists since 2007. The focus of this collaboration is on the development of switchable molecular systems for novel energy conversion systems, innovative materials and diagnostic methods as well as for biological and medical applications. We are pleased to represent the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry with our new project "Photoswitchable Kinase Inhibitors for Novel Anti-Cancer Applications" during the next four years.
For more information see:

Dorian Schmidt wins a travel scholarship of the German-French-University (Deutsch-Französische Hochschule, DFH) for the winter school "Photoswitchable Molecular Systems and Devices: From Synthesis to Applications" in Cargèse, Corsica. Dorian will also take part at the 10th PHENICS International Network Symposium and will present our study "A Photoswitchable Kinase Inhibitor: Photoinduced E/Z Isomerization of Axitinib".

Poster Award Rebecca Horbert

Rebecca Horbert wins the poster price at the international conference Kinase Inhibitor
Chemistry "Shaping Current and Future Development of Kinase Inhibitors", April 22-23,
2015 in San Diego, CA, USA.

Rebecca presented our recent study "Photoactivatable prodrugs of anti-melanoma agent vemurafenib". The results emerged from combined efforts with her coauthors Boris Pinchuk, Paul Davies, Dario Alessi, and Christian Peifer. Congratulations for the
awarded poster!

Boris Pinchuk

Boris wins a conference participation at the 250th ACS National Meeting & Exposition in Boston, MA, USA from 14th through 23th of August 2015 to present our study
"Photoactivatable prodrugs of kinase inhibitor vemurafenib". The study trip was awarded to Boris by the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker e.V. (GDCh) and the Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society (NESACS). Well done, Boris!
