Schleswig-Holstein Day at the Hannover Messe on Monday 23 April

Minister-President Daniel Günther opens Kiel University’s trade show booth - business and science in focus

The true north is presenting itself at the Hannover Messe as an excellently-networked science and business location, and showing how science and SMEs drive innovation together. On Monday 23 April, under the theme “Business meets Science - Science meets Business”, numerous key players from SMEs, economic development, science and politics will be meeting at the Kiel University booth.

After presentations by Schleswig-Holstein’s economic clusters and Kiel’s Cluster of Excellence, with honoured guests including Minister of Science Karin Prien, at 1pm Minister-President Daniel Günther and CAU President Professor Lutz Kipp will open the presentation area for innovations from the true north in Hall 2, Research & Technology. Afterwards, the state government invites you to a reception at the trade show. "I am delighted that the state is presenting itself on the opening day of the trade show, to show how well we are doing in the areas of business and science. Many innovative ideas and technologies are developed in Schleswig-Holstein. We therefore have every reason to confidently show ourselves at the world's largest industrial trade show," said Minister-President Daniel Günther.

The programme on Schleswig-Holstein Day also includes a keynote speech by Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2017 winner Professor Sami Haddadin, as well as practical examples of successful technology and knowledge transfer in Schleswig-Holstein. The first day of the show will be rounded off by a panel discussion with the State Secretaries Dr Oliver Grundei (Science) and Dr Thilo Rohlfs (Economic Affairs), with WTSH managing director Dr Bernd Bosche, Professor Sami Haddadin, as well as two representatives from business, Martin Cholewa of Lufthansa Technik Intercoat and Thomas Hinrichs of Berner International. In the face of a second digital and science-driven wave of globalisation, the experts will be discussing rapidly-changing business models and science as a key to technological, economic, social and political success.

CAU@Hannover Messe
In 2018, Kiel University (CAU) will once again present its excellent research at the Hannover Messe. Under the motto "Ways to Solutions" the state university demonstrates: science affects society in many different ways. It contributes to exchanges, solves tricky problems and creates new scenarios. All this awaits guests in Hall 2 (Research & Technology). This time, together with our partners: State of Schleswig-Holstein, the City of Kiel and the European XFEL. Participation at the trade show will focus on presentations and exhibits associated with cutting-edge research, the transfer of knowledge, patents and initiatives to establish companies. Presentations and panel discussions will round off the varied programme during the week. All details can be found at www.uni-kiel.de/hannovermesse/en.
