Mission Statement
The major aim of the network is to promote scientific mobility, exchange and collaboration among social scientists in Europe (and beyond) who investigate the interrelationships of issues of identity and socio-political participation in the context of migration and globalization, in general, and a uniting Europe, in particular. With regard to identity, the focus is on collective identity, while issues of socio-political participation include, inter alia, processes of social integration and exclusion as well as related processes of collective claims making and protest by both minority and majority groups. The network is a multidisciplinary endeavor in order to enable integrative, multi-level analyses which take into account macro- (e.g., sociological, political, and cultural), meso- (e.g., social psychological), and micro-level (e.g., psychological) variables. Cross-fertilization is pursued in the areas of theory building, (quantitative and qualitative) research methodology as well as research application and intervention.
