Kiel University

Student Associations

The university supports the activities of private student associations formed by students to advance their academic, sporting and social interests and to promote the political education, civic responsibility and tolerance of their members on the basis of the constitutional rule of law. This support is conditional on the association's constitution or the behaviour of its members not infringing the law and being compatible with proper teaching and research.

Student associations which have been approved by the judicial officer ("syndicus") of the University's Principal Offices after an examination of these criteria are able to provide their own information within the university's information system.

Student societies must renew their registration by 15 May and 15 November each year, notifying any changes in their board, contact address or articles. Failure to register will result in deletion from the university calendar and the loss of the account with the University Computing Centre. The registration form is available in Word and RTF format and can be mailed to lschaefer@uv.uni-kiel.de.
