Vice-president Professor Dr Birgit Friedl
Professor Dr Birgit Friedl was born in Ludwigsburg in 1958. She studied Economics, Business Administration and Business Mathematics at the University of Tübingen from 1978 till 1983. She received her doctorate from the Faculty of Economics in 1989 and her habilitation six years later. From 1992 until 1996 Friedl substituted as an associate professor at the Universities of Kaiserslautern, Eichstätt and Kiel. In 1996 she accepted the professorship for Business Administration with a focus on Controlling at the Institute of Business Administration at Kiel University.
From February until July 2010 Friedl acted as First Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. Thereafter, she was elected Dean of the faculty and held that position for a year. In May 2011 she was nominated the first female Vice President of Kiel University. In this position she takes responsibility for scientific and technological transfer, as well as Diversity Management.
