From the 27th to 29th of March, 16 participants from 10 countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Italy, Sweden, Turkey, Romania, United Kingdom) attended the EU COST Action Training School "Basics of Adhesion Science" at the University of Kiel. The training school was organized and conducted by the department of Functional Morphology and Biomechanics of the Zoological Institute (Prof. Stanislav Gorb, Dr. Petra Ditsche-Kuru). Beside trainers from Prof. Gorb’s group (Henrik Peisker, Dr. Alexander Kovalev, Esther Appel), three external trainers were invited: Dr. Philippe Leclere from the University of Mons (Belgium), Prof. Alexander Filippov from the Institute of Physics and Engineering (Donezk, Ukraine) and Dr. Christoph Eberl from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany). The participants from such diverse fields as physics, chemistry, biology and material sciences, were introduced in a variety of microscopical techniques and mechanical testing methods related to studies of adhesive phenomena in biology and engineering. English.
