Work in our group is done with invertebrate model organisms; namely, the vinegar fly Drosophila melanogaster and the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. In addition, some projects are possible with the honey bee Apis mellifera.

Topics:

• Hormonal control of behaviour and metabolism

• Role of adrenergic signalling

• Innate epithelial immunity

• Animal models for inflammatory diseases of barrier epithelia (asthma & crohn’s disease)

• Animal models for neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson)

• Interplay between nutrition, immunity and the nervous system

• Animal models for obesity
