Case Study (2): Zone Atelier Brest

The Zone Atelier Brest-Iroise (France) is a structure at the interface between science and society. ZABrI is an original mechanism developed by the French National Centre for Scientific Research that aims to improve understanding of the functioning and evolution of the coastal socio-ecosystem. The area covers 6550 km2, half terrestrial and half marine. By working closely with local stakeholders (managers, associations, fishermen, farmers etc.) and allowing them to dialogue with scientists, it provides a forum for in-depth transdisciplinary practice. The course will present this original system and illustrate its implementation through concrete examples of collaboration. 

"Science meets Society" ist eine Seminarreihe des Center for Ocean and Society (CeOS), der Nachwuchs- und Karriereförderungsprogramme FYORD (Foster Young Ocean Researchers Development) und iMSMS (Interdisciplinary Master School of Marine Sciences) des Forschungsschwerpunktes Kiel Marine Science (KMS) an der Universität Kiel.
