The coronavirus pandemic means that we are all facing particular challenges. In addition to our psychotherapeutic programme, we are also currently offering preventive courses on stress management, mindfulness and relaxation for CAU staff. You can regularly find out about free spaces and other offers on this page.
Who for?: CAU students and employees
A wide range of challenges need to be overcome during the coronavirus pandemic - many of them also last for a long time. We offer a free range of advisory services on dealing with topics such as fear of catching the disease, the tendency to worry, loss of social contacts, lacking everyday structures or family stresses and conflicts.

We support students who are in need of advice with psychological counselling if they have problems with their studies like exam worries, writer’s block, lack of stimulus, interruptions to work, as well as personal problems or crisis events like phobias, addiction, separations, illness or death, plus much more.

Who for?: CAU staff and relatives
An additional advisory service is available to tariff-based employees, professors or civil servants with an employment contract at the CAU, on top of the various internal advisory services. You can contact the Corrente advisory service provider confidentially, anonymously and for free with any type of professional or private problems. An expert with experience in your area will help you find an effective solution.
Who for?: all members of the CAU
The Family Service office advises CAU members - also during the pandemic - individually and confidentially. The staff will also research additional support options. The service represents family concerns at the CAU to the University Board and other institutes. There are family officers at each faculty and in the Graduate Center. Topics include the compatibility of work and family life, studies, childcare, looking after relatives, family-friendly teaching and infrastructure.
Who for?: CAU employees
The occupational safety experts provide managers, responsible persons and employees at Kiel University with advice and support for issues of occupational safety. They advise on assessing the working conditions, the so-called risk assessment, for example, or on planning, conducting and maintaining workplaces.
Who for?: CAU employees
The university's in-house doctor advises and supports staff and the employer in all matters related to occupational health and safety, in accordance with the provisions in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz).

Who for: CAU researchers, lecturer and employees
The Continuing Professional Development Centre also offers a range of advisory and support formats by professional trainers and coaches tailored to these special needs during corona times.
During these times, the offers support in particular the further development of digital teaching competences, competences in the areas of remote leadership and working in a home office. This enables helpful networking and (interdisciplinary) exchange despite physical distance. Coaching and counselling continue to take place - in digital formats.
Independent providers
Who for?: students experiencing hardship
The interim aid from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is intended to help students who are proven to be in hardship as a result of the pandemic, who require immediate aid, and who are unable to overcome the individual hardship caused by the pandemic by means of other support. Both German and international students enrolled at state and state-recognised universities in Germany can apply for the interim aid.
