Corona-Update: Current corona regulations for Kiel University from 26.05.22

Dear members of the University,

The SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Regulation is set to expire on 25 May 2022. For this reason, the University Board has updated Kiel University’s Hygiene Conceptual Framework and decided to lift most of the remaining restrictions from 26 May 2022.

This means, in particular, that the general requirement to wear face masks and maintain social distancing will no longer apply in any university building from 26 May 2022. This relates to all types of events and gatherings. We do request, however, that all university members continue to wear face masks wherever minimum social distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.

The familiar hygiene rules (hand hygiene, coughing and sneezing etiquette) must also continue to be observed. The rules and defined process for individuals who are particularly vulnerable due to existing health conditions also remain unchanged. All existing instructions and rules relating to the coronavirus pandemic can be found in Kiel University’s Hygiene Conceptual Framework.

The University Board, the deans of all faculties, the student union (AStA), the staff councils and crisis team all strongly advise you, for your own protection but also and especially out of consideration for other university members, to continue to wear a medical or FFP2 mask wherever minimum social distancing cannot be maintained.

With best regards,

Claudia Meyer,
Chancellor
