Statement of the University Board of the CAU.
In light of the increasing amounts of violence against peaceful demonstrations by university members in Tehran and other Iranian cities, Kiel University agrees with the statement by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Courageous Iranian students and scientists are currently taking to the streets in support of women's rights. We cannot comprehend and are horrified to see the violent reaction by the security personnel, universities being cordoned off and courses being suspended. As Schleswig-Holstein’s state university, we stand for democracy and the rule of law, open-mindedness and international understanding, scientific curiosity and integrity, along with equality and equal opportunities. We stand side by side in solidarity with all members of the international scientific community who peacefully advocate these values.
