Night of the Profs on November 16, 2018

“Languages - Codes - Cultures”

The Night of the Profs at Kiel University once again promises exciting and entertaining insight into the world of science. The motto for this year’s event on Friday, November 16 is “Languages - Codes - Cultures”.

Anyone who is interested is very welcome to attend. Admission is free. There will be guided entry into the buildings and lecture halls for safety reasons. Live broadcasting from packed lecture halls will again be offered and expanded.

This event is jointly offered by the University Board, the General Student Committee (AStA) and the Conference of Student Representatives (Fachschaftsvertreterkonferenz).

The programme

For the grand opening at 6pm, Professor Thorsten Burkard, last year’s Prof of the Night, will fill the large Audimax lecture hall, with over 1,200 seats.

As from 7pm, scientists in six lecture halls simultaneously reveal the secrets of “Languages - Codes - Cultures”.  A wide range of topics light up the night’s programme, from autoimmune diseases and Agamemnon code, via minimalism and secret messages, to 3D bioprinting and the digital future. The chemistry lecture “Chemie-Schnack” traditionally forms the colourful ending at midnight.

Safety

We want everybody to enjoy a great evening. Your safety in this regard is very important to us. That is why a safety concept regulating entry to the buildings and lecture halls was developed for all three event locations.
