The central  welcome ceremony will take place in presence. However, you can also watch it online. In the morning, the central welcome ceremony for the students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Technology, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences will start at 10 a.m. (Attention: seating capacity is limited. For more information, see below). The central  welcome ceremony for students of the Faculties of Philosophy, Theology, Economics and Social Sciences, and Law will begin in the afternoon at 2 p.m.

The entrance to the central welcome ceremony at Audimax (Christian-Albrechts-Platz 2, 24118 Kiel) will start in the morning from 9 a.m. and in the afternoon from 1 p.m. However, due to the protective measures to combat the Corona pandemic, only half of the auditorium can be occupied. This means that there will be room for about 600 students in the lecture hall. We therefore ask you to be there in good time if you would like to experience the central  welcome ceremony live. Of course, you can also watch the central welcome ceremony live online via stream. Please note that in order to participate on site, a current certificate of proof of one of the "3Gs" (vaccinated, recovered or tested) must be presented. The test must have been carried out at a testing centre and must not be older than 24 hours. Alternatively, a PCR test no older than 48 hours may be presented. In addition, you must show a photo ID. There will be a mask requirement in the Audimax. Please bring a medical mouth-nose covering with you.

In front of the Audimax, several food trucks will also be providing refreshments.

Digital info fair

From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the digital info fair will take place on this website. Here you can get in touch with many university institutions such as the Central Student Advisory Service, the University Library or the Sports Centre and get advice. The Kiel Theatre or the state capital provide information about the advantages of the city. In addition, many university groups present themselves here, with topics ranging from politics to religion to role-playing games. So it is easy to find like-minded people.

We wish you a good start to your studies and extend a warm welcome to you.

Orientation days for international students in October 2021

Dear international students,

a warm welcome at Kiel University!

Before the start of the semester, the International Center invites all new international students to an orientation program designed to inform them about important aspects of studying at Kiel University.

In addition to office hours, where tutors are available to answer questions about life in Kiel and course registrations, webinars are offered in which the support services on campus are presented and students receive a lot of important information about administrative aspects of studying.

Unfortunately, due to the Corona pandemic, almost all events have to be held online. In addition, most events are only offered in English.
