Orientation days for international students in October 2020

Dear international students,

a warm welcome at Kiel University! To help you to get started on campus in your first few days, the International Center of Kiel University offers an orientation program.

In various courses, you will not only go on a campus rally with the tutors of the International Center, you will also get interesting insights into German university culture and special insights into the student life in Kiel.

You can also find out how to handle Germany: you wilöl get answers to questions like Where do you get a medical certificate? Where can you find a part-time job? What do you have to pay attention for if you want to go to a German administration office and what is that "GEZ" -fee? In addition, you have the opportunity to join a guided city tour through Kiel and a day trip to Hamburg.

Of course you will also have the opportunity to meet and greet other international students. For that, the breakfast and the speed dating for international students are some good options.

Please note: For some of the courses you have to pay a participation fee/a contribution to expenses.

General Welcome Ceremony in October

Central Welcome Ceremony

Dear international students,

we warmly invite you to the central welcome ceremony in the Audimax, Christian-Albrechts-Platz 2. Here you can find out a lot of good things to know about your new alma mater.

In the university’s largest auditorium, the Frederik-Paulsen lecture hall, you will be welcomed by various representatives of the university and the city of Kiel. Depending on the faculty you belong to, your welcoming ceremony will take place either in the morning or in the afternoon. The entry to both welcoming ceremonies will be accompanied by a concert by the University Big Band. The Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein (student union) and AStA (student committee) will also introduce themselves at the welcoming ceremony. After the morning ceremony, an exciting science show awaits you.

There will be an info fair in the foyer of the Audimax: in addition to university societies which you can join during your studies, you can also find out more about leisure activities as well as the University Sports Center, the Centre for Entrepreneurship or the university’s environmental programme. At the info fair, you will find almost all of the important initiatives and institutions at the CAU. Many exhibitors from across the region will also present themselves. The information fair is open from 9am to 4pm. Registration is not necessary. Just drop by and take a look around!

We wish you a successful start at Kiel University, and look forward to seeing you!

Yours, Professor Lutz Kipp
President of Kiel University

The ceremony will be held in German. However, at the information fair, our members and exihitors are happy to give advice in English.

Information fair

Every year, an information fair is held to accompany the central welcome event, at which CAU institutions, university groups and partners of the university present themselves. A list of exhibiting institutions is published here before the event.

The exact date of the event and further information will be announced by September.
