PhD Position at the University of Southern Denmark

Application-Deadline is March 17, 2023.

The Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark offers a fully funded PhD position to investigate benthic primary production in the Arctic. Through probing the presence and activity of benthic primary producers, the project will improve the understanding of primary production and marine ecosystems in a changing Arctic Ocean. The chosen candidate will investigate benthic primary production using microsensor techniques and incubations to characterize photosynthesis rates in microphytobenthos while exploring the importance of the spectral composition of light.

Institution: Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark; Odense, Denmark

Position: Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years with a flexible start date in 2023. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period. The PhD student will join a research group at Nordcee and will receive training in the technical aspects of their future work.

Target Group: Applicants must have a two-year master's degree or an equivalent degree. Ideally, they have a background in microbial ecology, biogeochemistry, marine science, or a related discipline.

Application: Applications must be submitted via the online application form containing a research proposal, letter of interest, detailed CV, copies of both the Bachelor and Master’s diploma with the transcripts of records and at least two signed reference letters.
