Meet invited experts of the “2nd International Ocean Health Symposium” on Emerging marine diseases, regulating functions, and governance implications

Prof. Lone Grønbæk Jørgensen, SDU, Denmark
“Use your curiosity, be a scientist, and be open-minded for inter- and trans-disciplinary thinking.”
I am trained economist, who has been deeply engaged in the management of marine resources. Our challenges are global in nature and require combing knowledge from different sciences. To conduct interdisciplinary research, we must learn to communicate in each other’s languages.

Prof. Christina Pettan-Brewer, University of Washington, USA & ECOHA, Brasil & OHLAIC
“What is your Vision for One Health, One Ocean and One Planet? I would love to hear your voice, ideas and actions for a better and healthier world!”
Growing up in Brazil, I was always naturally concerned with animals, humans and their interconnection with their ecosystems. Veterinary and comparative medicine brought me even closer to this holistic approach to integrated health. Every day we learn something new.
A never ending Life learning experience!

During „Meet the Prof“ events you can meet – personally and informally – with top-level international scientists and experts visiting Kiel. Find out what they think are the top challenges in their field and what it takes to make a career within or outside of science. These are open events requiring no registration.
