Kiel University’s campus is currently undergoing a complete renewal. By 2022, one third of the university’s buildings will be rebuilt or completely renovated, with a further third completed by 2026. This renewal will result in state-of-the-art research infrastructures. The Faculty of Engineering is getting a new research building, with ultra-modern research buildings and new buildings for other faculties also being added to the campus on Westufer. Lecture theatres and seminar rooms are being upgraded to the latest technological standards, and a joint specialised library will create attractive working conditions for the students. All in all, construction work will cost around half a billion Euros. The university is thus the city of Kiel's largest urban construction project for the coming decade.
All building and construction projects will be coordinated and planned by the team at Kiel University's Facility Management, and implemented in close cooperation with the Gebäudemanagement Schleswig-Holstein (GMSH).
Members of Kiel University will receive further updates on planning and construction progress via the Intranet.
The central emergency telephone number is operated by the university’s main gate. All kinds of emergencies on campus can be reported here.
