The idea to redesign the Anger grounds, concluded in 2017, is based on the concept of an open campus flowing smoothly into the city, which also expresses the university’s opening up to the public and transfer of knowledge to the wider community This is supported by the immediate proximity of the Veloroute 10, which not only connects the campus areas of Grasweg (Institute of Pharmacy), Bremerskamp and Westring with the main campus, but also enables nearby start-ups as well as public and private institutions to be closer to research and teaching. It was decided that the 1960s buildings on the Anger grounds will be demolished and replaced by state-of-the-art facilities within the next years and decades. Currently, the design and construction of new buildings is ongoing.
