Kiel University (CAU)
In the land between the seas, we broaden our view of the world, opening new horizons to forward-looking ideas. Together with others, we are helping to form our land and society. We are laying the foundations for creating and communicating knowledge and shaping sustainable interactions between people, their cultures, the environment, and technology. We are connecting disciplines, asking questions and building bridges between science and society. Together, we are generating knowledge through research, teaching, and transfer to develope solutions for our time‘s social challenges. We see ourselves as an international network university and a local stakeholder in our region. Just like a compass, we provide orientation as the environment and society are changing across the globe.
Pax optima rerum, “peace is the highest good”. From the beginning, this was our motto, and it continues to be our guiding star. We are committed to democracy, openness to the world, international understanding, scientific curiosity, integrity, and equal opportunities. We value people who want to help shape things and see our university as a place of encounter, close connections, and diverse togetherness. Our diversity is both an opportunity and an obligation. To make the most of the wealth of our perspectives, we facilitate intensive interaction and cultivate a lively culture of discussion as equals based on trust and respect. We live out a university culture where all members can feel proud to be part of CAU.
