"At the heart of my research is the regulation of the energy balance. We investigate how an over- or undersupply of energy affects changes in body composition and metabolic risk. Although the energy balance has a greater influence on metabolism than the composition of the diet, this has not been researched much. In the Energy Balance Center, which is being established here, we particularly want to answer questions about the influence of the energy balance on the prevention and therapy of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer. This will also involve the use of new measurement methods."
