Energy metabolism in the brain

"The focus of my research lies at the interface between psyche, brain and body. I research neuroendocrinological, neuroenergetic and cognitive processes in people with psychiatric diseases such as depression, diabetes mellitus and overweight or obesity as well as healthy individuals. I am particularly interested in how changes in brain energy content affect neuronal activation patterns, mood, cognition, sleep and body weight development. The energy metabolism in the brain can be influenced from the outside, for example through non-invasive brain stimulation, but also through the administration of insulin and food intake."
