“My working group analyses options of governance of global climate change. We examine how different political instruments and institutions can act to limit climate change and how they can be designed fairly and effectively. One focus area of our research is international CO₂ pricing. I use models based on game theory and environmental economics that describe the interaction of various stakeholders. In doing so, I analyse how what is known as free rider behaviour can be prevented effectively when reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In theoretical and numerical integrated assessment models, I research optimal pricing for greenhouse gas emissions.”
